Festival Lodge of Instruction

FESTIVAL LODGE OF INSTRUCTION

Walton Walker and Sandwell lodge are one of only a few lodges who have a full Festival Lodge of Instruction. This is designed for junior brethren who haven't been in masonry for long but who want to learn the ritual and experience taking an office before the real thing. We meet on the FIRST THURSDAY of each month from October to April. We start at 6.30pm and practice one ceremony during the whole year. It's casual dress (T shirt and jeans) and we take the time to correct and explain things. Afterwards some of us then go off to the Red Lion in West Bromwich for a chat, drink and some of the best Indian food in the area.

On the First Thursday of May we have a complete meeting in full masonic dress and regalia and we demonstrate that ceremony. We pick a different ceremony each year so that (the theory is) a junior brother will have completed at least one office in each of the 3 main ceremonies. Every single brother who has reached the "Chair" ie Worshipful Master has been involved in the Festival lodge and all have said how valuable it was to them. Many past masters come to the rehearsals to give their support and benefit of their experience.

We are very pleased to invite junior members of other lodges who do not have a lodge of instruction, to join with us and take part. Indeed if it had not been for the Covid19 shutdown we would have had our first Festival Worshipful Master from another lodge.
